This Victorian house is in large gardens and has easy access to Edinburgh's city centre by bus. It offers free Wi-Fi, free parking, large rooms and fresh, home-cooked, traditional Scottish breakfasts.

Alba House has a quiet location less than 2 miles from Edinburgh Waverley rail Station. A number of local buses run regularly from the stop outside the guest house.

The house was built in about 1860 and the large rooms mix original features with modern comforts. The individually decorated en suite rooms have central heating, TVs, hairdryers, radio alarm clocks, coffee tables, armchairs and tea/coffee.

Alba House is family run and prides itself on offering a traditional warm Scottish welcome and a friendly, relaxing atmosphere.

Hi, If you are coming directly to Alba House from the airport you can take Airlink bus number 300. It is a service bus (not express) but there is no transfer in city centre - direct link. Public transport in Edinburgh is excellent and cheap. Every bus th

How easy is it to get to Royal Infirmary hospital ..distance ?

Hi, The Royal Infirmary is one mile from Alba House. Lothian buses number 7 ,8 and 49 go directly from here. The journey takes about ten minutes. Hope this helps.

Excellent!!

Excellent location. It's a 10 minute bus ride from the city centre down one straight road. Buses 3, 7, 8, 29, 31,37 & 49 all stop at the bus stop outside Alba house. My room was on the top floor/ attic. The stairs leading there are a bit narrow and winding. Not a problem for the average person. You will find much more challenging steps around Edinburgh!! My room was spotless and the bed so so comfortable. The guest house owner Cath was adorable. Chatty, smiling, helpful. Able to guide you with local information. Her breakfast was delicious. You will not set out for the day hungry, that is for sure!!! Code and key for the front doors so you can get in as late as you please. I was able to leave my baggage there on check out day so I could continue exploring and picked it up later.

My room had a bath (only option as it's in the eaves) with a hand held shower attatchment. I knew this when I booked. It's not a negative as I was here for 2 nights , but some people might find it awkward getting in and out of a bath.

Lovely little find just out of the city

We had a lovely ground floor room. Secure coded door to get into the premises. Cath and her husband were very welcoming and very informative in how to get into the city.....very simple bus ride with stops just outside the guest house. Loved the fresh fruit plate for breakfast. Tea/coffee and a jug in the room.

Great location, super friendly host!

Bus stop across the road takes you directly downtown, so easy. Cath was a great host, always willing to give tips and helpful in booking dinner reservations when our phone wasn't working. Great stay!

Gorgeous rooms close by to the city centre, with a lovely attentive host.

The house, room, Cath and the breakfast all exceeded our expectations. The property was also much closer to central Edinburgh than we were expecting, a 7 minute bus journey which is capped at £5pp per day so you can go back and forth all day for no more than £5. The bus stop is DIRECTLY outside the property. 24/7 access to the property with a key code in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood. Cath was absolutely lovely and took the time to speak to everybody at breakfast daily, asking what your plans were and to give advice and recommendations if you needed it. The house was gorgeous and the room far larger than we expected from the photos, it felt very grand, with a lovely modern en-suite. Breakfast choices could be made for each day and we always left feeling lovely and full. Would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional

Very nice host. The room was very clean and cosy, we did not miss anything while we stayed there. We booked the room for one week. There is a bus stop right next to Alba House so it is very easy to get there.

Strongly recommend it if you want piece and quiet, but also close enough to the city center

The lady who hosted us was very polite and helpful with every need. She was super accommodating with our requests and gave us great travel tips. Breakfast was very filling, the room was big and quiet and the bus stop right outside the property made the journey into town very pleasant and fast (approx 10 mins by bus or 30 mins walk). Also if you are renting a car, they have a car park or the road just before has plenty of free parkings. The property is also close to the motorway which makes it easy to start your car journeys and also only 30 mins away from Edinburgh airport.

There isn't really anything that we did not like....

Great place, great host!

A great room in a great little guest house. Kathy the host is absolutely wonderful. made me and my partner very welcome. No bar on site, and breakfast is not of the cooked variety, however there was plenty of it and it was very nice. We shall return!

Had a very short stay in Edinburgh but managed to cram lots into 2 days. Owner of property, Trish, was amazing

Flawless, easy and relaxing

The breakfast is very simple, you get a fruit plate or danish plate with various cereals, a natural fresh yogurt, toast and tea, coffee, juices etc. But the highlight is actually the host! She was the most welcoming person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, it was my partner and I first time in Edinburgh, she gave us all the buses for our main destinations, all buses to get back to the hotel, made sure everything was right and clean, cleaned and topped up our pieces in the room, always asked how our time there was every morning. She is so polite and made the trip much more pleasurable. It's the only place il be staying.

Nothing at all, everything was perfect, only thing would be wish had an hot option for breakfast but that's just personal preference.
